About
A small team that takes Windows PDF capture seriously.
CriticalPDF started as an internal tool at a logistics company that needed to capture every shipping document out of a tangle of Windows applications — some modern, some twenty years old, all of them allergic to PDF plugins.
The team built a virtual printer that worked from every app, a Windows service that routed every capture, and a template engine that pulled values out of each document so the right invoice went to the right customer automatically. It turned out other companies wanted the same thing.
Today CriticalPDF is shipped as a signed MSI to teams in healthcare, manufacturing, accounting, and government — everywhere a document needs to leave one Windows application and land reliably in another.
CriticalPDF is built and maintained by a small development team based in Bettendorf, Iowa. Every release ships out of one engineering room — when you email support, the person who replies is one or two desks away from the person who wrote the code.
